This grant funds travel to East Asia to establish new research collaborations as well as reinvigorate and deepen existing ones.
- Notre Dame Beijing and Notre Dame Hong Kong are pleased to support logistics for those locations.
- This grant cannot be used to bring collaborators to South Bend. For this, please see the Asia Guest Scholar/Artist Program.
Eligibility/Requirements
- Full-time regular faculty members of Notre Dame are eligible to apply.
- Open to all disciplines.
Funding
- Funding requests can be made up to $10,000
Application Guidelines
Applications will be submitted through NDG's submissions manager and should include:
- Proposal title
- ND project director (PD) name(s), department/center/institute affiliation(s) and email address(es)
- A summary statement of why this travel is important in terms of establishing/furthering a research project, including a short description of the project (600 word limit)
- Total amount requested in US dollars
- List of any other funding sources obtained, or being applied for, to support the research
- Proposed travel dates
- Justification for travel
- Planned activities and their locations during the travel visit.
- A timeline for completion of the travel
- Information about ways in which the applicant plans to support the continued development of the project/relationship
- Budget with justification
- Current abbreviated CV (3-page limit) for the ND project director
- Current abbreviated CV (3-page limit) for the international collaborators
- Letter from the collaborator at the institution in East Asia indicating their desire to meet for the designated purpose

Criteria
Well defined outcome must be anticipated such as a new joint project or a significant clarification of direction on an existing project.
Eligible Expenses
- Airfare, ground transportation, visa costs (if applicable), accommodation, and per diem as outlined below.
Per Diem: Reimbursement for meals and incidental travel expenses in accordance with these per diem allowances:
- 1-14 days - Up to 75% of US State Dept per diem for international travel
- 15+ days – Up to 50% of US State Dept per diem for international travel
