Latin America Research Development Grant

This grant focuses on Latin America and provides travel support in one of two ways:

OPTION 1*
Inviting and hosting a leader of a center or organization with broad recognition in Latin America to visit Notre Dame		 OPTION 2*
Supporting an existing faculty-to-faculty collaboration by inviting international collaborators in Latin America to campus in a way that promises to significantly advance establish and/or deepen a joint research project

*This grant can only be used to support travel coming to South Bend from Latin America.

Eligibility/Requirements

  • Full-time regular faculty members of Notre Dame are eligible to apply.
  • Open to all disciplines.

Funding

  • Funding requests can be made up to $10,000

Application Guidelines

Applications will be submitted through NDG's submissions manager and should include:

  1. Proposal title
  2. ND project director (PD) name(s), department/center/institute affiliation(s) and email address(es)
  3. Indication of option being applied for (Option 1 or Option 2)
  4. Summary statement (option specific, 600 word limit):
    1. Option 1: describe the importance of the institution to ND and the relevance of the invited guest
    2. Option 2: describe the research project to be discussed/advanced/deepened during the visit and its importance to the project director’s work
  5. Total amount requested in US dollars
  6. Proposed travel date
  7. Justification for travel
  8. Planned activities and their locations, during the time on campus
  9. A timeline for completion of travel
  10. Information about ways in which the applicant plans to support the continued development of the project/relationship
  11. Budget with justification
  12. Current abbreviated CV (3-page limit) for the ND PI(s)
  13. Current abbreviated CV (3-page limit) of the invited international investigators/leader
  14. Letter from invitee/faculty collaborator at international institution indicating their desire/willingness to meet/visit for the designated purpose

Latin America Research Development Grant SAMPLE Application

Criteria

Well defined outcome must be anticipated such as a new joint project or a significant clarification of direction on an existing project.

  • Airfare, ground transportation, visa costs (if applicable), accommodation, and per diem
