As Assistant Director of Global Engagement Programs, Kailey Smith manages several short-term, non-degree summer programs at the University, including iSURE and customized programs. In this role, she provides curricular and logistical oversight for these transformative and innovative learning experiences, helping international students temporarily call Notre Dame their "home under the Dome." Additionally, she has served as a term assistant teaching professor in the First Year of Studies, teaching a discussion-based seminar for Notre Dame freshmen in the Moreau First Year Experience program.
Kailey earned a Master's in linguistics from Purdue University, focusing on world language education and second language acquisition. She also holds a Bachelor's in psychology and German studies from Creighton University, where she had her first international experience as a study abroad student in Berlin, Germany. Prior to joining Notre Dame in 2022, she held teaching positions at Purdue University and at the University of Freiburg in Freiburg, Germany.
