Sofia Gomez

Sofia Gomez joins the ISSA team at Notre Dame Global after graduating from the University of Notre Dame in May 2025. She received her B.A. in Sociology with a supplementary major in Latino Studies and minors in Digital Marketing and Portuguese and Brazilian Studies.

Her internship and professional experiences are rooted in education and immigration. These include roles with the South Bend Mayor’s Office, Notre Dame Law School’s Program for Defense of Mexican Nationals, Hope Border Institute in El Paso, Notre Dame’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions, and volunteering as a Citizenship Classes Tutor.

As a two time receipt of Notre Dame’s Expanding Global Access Award, Sofia studied abroad in Brazil, Italy, and Panama. She also served on the National QuestBridge Board, connecting QuestBridge Notre Dame Scholars with multicultural and academic support.

Originally from a U.S.-Mexico border town in El Paso, Texas, Sofia is passionate about migration and cultural studies, shaped by her upbringing in a migrant family. In her role as Student Immigration Advisor, she is excited to support students navigating the immigration landscape throughout their Notre Dame journey.

In her free time she loves spending time with family and her dogs, watching movies, planning events for her mom’s business, and enjoys any arts and crafts activity!
