Judith Stapleton

Judith Stapleton serves as Programmes Manager at the University of Notre Dame’s site in the West of Ireland, where she oversees the artist residency programmes at Kylemore Abbey and the University’s semester abroad programmes in Galway. She holds a Ph.D. in the History of Art from Yale University and an M.A. in the same field from the University of Bristol.

Before joining Notre Dame Kylemore, Judith held appointments as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and National Endowment for the Humanities Fellow at the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies. Her research focuses on Irish and British painting from 1850 to 1930, with an emphasis on the intersection of art, politics, and modernism. She has taught courses in Irish Studies and Art History at the University of Notre Dame and is active as a curator. Her latest exhibitions include “Threading the Threshold: Craft, Care, and Celtic Revival” at Notre Dame Kylemore and the co-curated exhibition “Homecoming: Walter Osborne’s Portraits of Dublin, 1880-1900” at the Raclin Murphy Museum of Art.
