Notre Dame Global in Photos: August 2025
Notre Dame students dove into the fall semester, embracing cultural, academic, and community experiences all around the world. Pre-med students joined programs in Puebla and Mexico City, while a group in Santiago explored Pablo Neruda’s seaside home in Isla Negra. Rome began with a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Samuele Sangalli, London launched a new orientation course inspired by Shakespeare, and Jerusalem delivered its annual Reimagining Business Excellence program on ethical leadership. In Beijing, Notre Dame and Dulwich College marked three years of the Global Scholars Program, while in São Paulo, Notre Dame alumni celebrated newly admitted students. iSURE participants volunteered at Cultivate Food Rescue in South Bend, and international students and scholars kayaked at Warren Dunes State Park in Michigan. In Ireland, the inaugural Threshold Festival at Notre Dame Kylemore honored W.B. Yeats with performances, lectures, and conversations that brought together artists and scholars from around the globe.

International Student & Scholar Affairs

Notre Dame's International Student & Scholar Affairs team organized a kayaking trip to Warren Dunes State Park for international students and scholars who stayed in South Bend over the summer.
London

Notre Dame London launched a new orientation class for all London students titled “...what strength I have…”: London, Shakespeare & Studying Abroad. Through the lens of Britain’s most significant cultural figure, the class provides students with the opportunity to reflect constructively on their time in London and to explore the academic, personal, and spiritual dimensions of studying abroad.
Kylemore

Artistic Director of the Abbey Theatre Caitríona McLaughlin, actor Eileen Walsh, playwright Marina Carr, actor Marty Rea, and moderator Professor Patrick Lonergan of the University of Galway’s English Department, took part in a panel discussion on the final day of the Threshold Festival at Notre Dame Kylemore. The inaugural festival honored the literary legacy of W.B. Yeats with four days of conversation, lectures, performances, and culinary experiences, bringing together scholars, artists, and arts enthusiasts from around the world.
Jerusalem

Notre Dame Jerusalem hosted its third Reimagining Business Excellence program, bringing together business and nonprofit leaders to Notre Dame’s campus to discuss ethical leadership and social entrepreneurship. The program participants were welcomed by the ESTEEM program and were given a tour of Notre Dame’s IDEA Center.
Santiago

Notre Dame Santiago fall semester students visited famed Chilean poet Pablo Neruda’s house in Isla Negra and were welcomed by a rainbow high above the Pacific Ocean.
Hong Kong

Notre Dame Hong Kong connected with leaders from the ND Shanghai Alumni Club and discussed pathways for joint events and initiatives meant to empower the entire Notre Dame network in Greater China.
Rome

The fall 2025 semester officially began with a special Mass celebrated by His Excellency, Archbishop Samuele Sangalli, Adjunct Secretary of the Dicastery for Evangelization, Notre Dame Rome associates, together with students from the School of Architecture Program (third year and graduate), the Rome Undergraduate Program (RUP), the Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering Program (AME), and the Rome International Scholars Program (RIS).
Mexico

This semester, 11 Notre Dame pre-med students began their study abroad journey at UPAEP in Puebla, Mexico, and two students joined Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico City. From Puebla’s vibrant traditions to Mexico City’s blend of ancient and modern, students in Notre Dame Mexico's semester programs will be fully immersed in a unique blend of culture, academics, and community.
Beijing

The Global Scholars Program, led by Notre Dame Beijing and the Office of Pre-College Programs, has entered its third year of recruitment at Dulwich College Beijing (DCB). Over the past three years, three DCB students have completed three or more courses and received a Confirmation of Participation from Notre Dame. The photo captures Jingyu Wang, executive director of Notre Dame Beijing, and Clare, DCB’s high school principal, celebrating this milestone together.
São Paulo

The São Paulo Send-off, organized by the Notre Dame Alumni Club of Brazil, gathered newly admitted students, their families, and alumni for a special celebration. Thais Burmeister Pires and Rafaella Bonaccorsi Dantas, representing Notre Dame São Paulo; Fernando Lohmann, André Meneghetti, and André Elbling, representing the Alumni Club of Brazil; and Lea Barthuly, representative of the ND Alumni Association, reflected on the importance of the Notre Dame community in Brazil.
Global Engagement Programs

Stepping away from their research for the evening, several iSURE students embraced Notre Dame’s mission to be a force for good by volunteering at Cultivate Food Rescue in South Bend, where they packaged 329 meals for local elementary school students facing food insecurity.
