IEW: Let's Talk About It: Cultural Pride

Discussing culture, race, and ethnicity with peers can be challenging, and at times, even mentioning these topics feels almost taboo. Myself and the other Senior Fellows at MSPS wish to break this barrier and normalize these conversations to foster inclusion on campus. The Notre Dame mission statements necessitates this need, as it states:
"One of [Notre Dame's] distinctive goals is to provide a forum where, through free inquiry and open discussion, the various lines of Catholic thought may intersect" and enable intellectual interchange "enriched by the presence and voices of diverse scholars and students" (University of Notre Dame, 2024).
To foster a spirit of inclusion and mutual understanding on campus, the MSPS Senior Fellows are proud to present our series "Let's Talk About It", where we will gather and discuss issues pertinent to culture, race, and ethnicity. We will kick off this series with the topic Cultural Pride on Thursday Nov. 21st from 5:00-6:30pm in the History Makers Room at the Center for DEI, and discuss how culture permeates our lives and how each one of us can live out our own "cultural pride".
We invite you all to join us for a fruitful conversation and light refreshments!
